Assistant Chef Job Description

Title: Assistant Chef
Reports to: Head Chef
Department: Production
Required Permits/Licensing/ Registration: Marijuana Establishment Agent Card, Southern Nevada Health Card
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Supervisory Responsibilities: NA

Position Summary:
The Assistant Chef works as a member of the team under the direction and supervision of the Head Chef. They will
work with the Chef to coordinate and carry out the preparation of all edibles and R&D products. Help the Chef
prepare marijuana-infused products using a variety of kitchen tools, as well as appliances such as food processors,
mixers, blenders, induction hot plates, and ovens.

Essential Functions:
● Responsible for helping the Production Department meet the production demand quantity and quality in
accordance with company mission, goals, and objectives.
● Responsible for completing any work assigned to them during their scheduled shift, including but
not limited to:
▪ Assisting Head Chef with new product development.
▪ Recording Supply Use and working with Inventory Manager for orders.
▪ The Assistant Chef(s) will be responsible for his or her own station, ensuring that all
items are appropriately sanitized and ready for use before and after each shift.
▪ Working knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation procedures.
▪ Working knowledge of weights and measures.
▪ Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
▪ Detail oriented mindset with a focus on efficiency, quality, and sanitation.
● Responsible for following all operational guidelines, verbal directives, training information and
policies when performing duties.
● Reviews training procedures and seeks continued education to ensure delivery on all job functions
● Assist with the creation/manufacturing of marijuana-infused edible products
● Initiate, plan, and assist in the execution of Research & Development experiments.
● Documentation and continued development of changing internal processes for Production department.
● Ensures all standards for processing edibles are followed
● Compliance with Health Department Regulations.
● Assuring compliance with local, state, and federal billing or licensing requirements
● Quality control methods are adhered to throughout entire process
● Experiments/manufacturing methods are documented for future reference

● Inventory oversight and management including METRC, an inventory tracking compliance program
provided by the Nevada Department of Taxation.
● Comprehension and demonstration of “Good Manufacturing Processes”
● Conducts studies, identifies problems, recommends alternatives, and implements solutions selected by
the management team.
● Continuously improves skills, knowledge base, and motivations to assist in creating an environment
where the entire team does the same.
● Follows all safety programs and protocols and provides updates as necessary
● Responsible for facilitating inspections by any and all governing agencies.
● Records information to correct issues or concerns
● Maintains processes that are appropriate for equipment and program requirements.

● Knowledge and adherence to the policies, procedures, and goals of Deep Roots Harvest.

agencies, community members and the general public.
● Understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry,

and standard operating procedures.
● Ability to interpret, understand, and comply with complex statutes, ordinances, regulations, standards,
and laws.
● Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing,
database management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.
● Flexible work schedule required; to include covering a vacant shift and/or facility issues in emergency
situations as needed.
● Represent the company in a professional manner when communicating or interacting with all local
community, state, or federal officials.
● Observe and maintain all safety procedures and protocols

● Must be proficient in Windows based software and point of sale applications.

● Ability to interpret, understand, and comply with complex statutes, ordinances, regulations, standards, and
laws.
● Understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry,
personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives
and standard operating procedures.
● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management,
governmental agencies, community members and the general public.

● Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing,
database management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.
Additional Requirements :
● Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
● Must pass any and all required background checks
● Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
Minimum Education and Experience :
● High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
● Previous commercial kitchen experience preferred
● Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, including internal experience.

Working Conditions:
● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking,
hearing, seeing, standing, sitting, bending, twisting and repetitive motions.
● PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 40 pounds (100 pounds with
assistance)
● Must be able to tolerate dusty, strong smelling marijuana odors, and be able to tolerate exposure to the
product.
