8 Top Tips for Smoking Cannabis for the First Time
Check out the following snippets of advice to get the most from your first time.
- You Might Not Get High
The first time you smoke weed you might not actually get high. It can be a literal buzz kill. You’ve waited so long, hyped yourself up, acquired the right materials, and then you don’t get high. What a downer! Weed, like all skills (yes, it’s a skill), takes time to perfect. If you didn’t get high the first time, then don’t sweat it. There’s always next time.
2. Choose Weed Wisely
Different types of marijuana lead to different types of high. Some will make you sleepy and may help with your anxiety levels. Others may make you lively and spark your creativity. Head over to Deep Roots Harvest and one of our friendly budtenders will help find the strain to match your needs.
3. Stay Hydrated
Cannabis will make you thirsty. Drink enough water to keep you hydrated! There’s nothing worse than waking up with serious dry mouth from a solid night’s smoking. Keep a bottle close by to ensure it isn’t a problem.
4. Ask for (More) Help
Unsure where to get started? Sure, the information here should help a little. However, there’s no replacement for speaking with a real-life budtender, face to face. Again, legal states make it easy to do exactly that. We are more than happy to answer your questions in return for custom.
Read this piece first. But for added clarity, go ask your local shop for advice on how to smoke, what to smoke, where to smoke and so on.
5. Start Slowly
Don’t try to run before you can walk. And definitely, don’t try to run when you’re super high. Trust us. It doesn’t end well. However, back to the point. Start slow with your first exposure to cannabis. There’s a host of benefits to enjoy. But a bad first experience can put you off for good.
Go slow. Take a hit, then have a rest. Sit back and relax for a while. Then, if you feel okay, take another. It’s like sipping a fine wine as opposed to chugging it. The experience is worth savoring. Don’t try to go hard. Don’t try to impress your friends. It’ll only end badly.
6. Create a Safe Space
Your environment can make a big difference. Set yourself up in a cool, calm, comfortable space to fully embrace the first hit. Avoid situations and settings where you’ll be rushed, stressed, and paranoid about being caught, and so on.
Likewise, the company you’re in will make a difference too. Hang out with your nearest and dearest who want to smoke too. Why not invite someone along with a bit more smoking experience than you. They’ll be able to walk you through what to do and help you savor the moment. Avoid people you don’t trust. You don’t want to get high with them anyway, especially when it’s the first time.
7. Give Yourself Time
Smoking chills you out. You’ll feel relaxed and super mellow. If you’ve listened to our advice, then you’ll be sat somewhere comfortable, warm, and safe. It’s almost guaranteed you’ll want to sleep at some point!
Don’t arrange some important meeting or appointment or commitment for the same afternoon. Clear the schedule and give yourself the time to enjoy the experience.
8. Know Your Limits
You know to take it slow. But it’s just as important to know your limits. The main thing is not to push it so hard you sour your experience. Especially when it’s your first time!
